Capacity Development

The Multi-Regional Clinical Trials Center of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard (MRCT Center) in the United States has developed a "Core Competency Framework for Clinical Research Professionals" that defines the basic competencies such as knowledge, skills, and attitudes of clinical research professionals required at conducting a safe, high-quality clinical research. This framework has been translated into many languages, and is widely used worldwide for clinical research training, Professional Conduct and performance evaluations, etc. NCGM, in collaboration with Osaka University and the National Cancer Center, translated the Competency Domains for the Clinical Research Professionals into Japanese, and published in 2019. Based on this experience, the framework was further translated into Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and other languages by ARISE, an international collaborative clinical research network in Asia established under the leadership of NCGM. Furthermore, ARISE conducted a survey on the competencies among clinical research professionals in Asia and Africa under an AMED*-subsidized project, namely in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In this activity, we collaborated with MRCT Center and the Clinical Research Initiative for Global Health (CRIGH).
